Builders Are Building: 2022 Crypto Developer Report 🏗️

As the saying goes, bear markets are for building — and thanks to Electric Capital's 2022 Developer Report, we have the data to prove it. While the report only includes developer activity from open-source repositories, it reveals some mind-blowing statistics about the growth of web3 as a platform. Here are the top 3 that stood out:

• Despite a 71% decrease in network value across blockchains since the November 2021 peak, 2022 saw an all-time high for monthly active devs — with an increase of 297% since 2018.

• 2022 saw 61,000+ new crypto devs writing open-source code — more than all of 2014-2018 combined.

• Ethereum saw a 5x increase in monthly active developers — but other ecosystems are also growing: Solana, NEAR, & Polygon saw a 40% increase YoY.
