GM builders.
Things may be looking different, and that's because we're excited to bring you a new and improved weekly experience.
Be sure to check out the upcoming Web3SF workshops & panels later this month in San Francisco!
ICYMI, we also announced our latest product ➡️ Release. Peak the full details below & we'll see you on the other side.
THE MERGE | Everything You Need To Know
In September, one of the most significant on-chain events in history will permanently change the future of web3.
The Ethereum network will upgrade from Proof of Work to Proof of Stake.
Sweet. What's the TLDR?
Quicker transactions, reduced energy usage, and one large step towards scalability.
Ok, cool. How is this relevant to devs?
The Merge was designed to minimally impact the developer ecosystem. That said, there will be minor changes to:
Block structure
Slot/block timing
Opcode changes
Sources of on-chain randomness
Concepts of safe head and finalized blocks
Check out the full thread here for more details including the difference between Proof of Work and Proof of Stake, misconceptions like 'lower gas fees' and why you should be wary of offers that feel 'too good to be true' around the time of the Merge.

Yesterday we debuted our latest product innovation: Release, an on-chain smart contract registry. Make your custom contracts shareable, discoverable, and deployable by anyone.
Creating a Release generates a shareable landing page for your contract, with:
A one-click deploy flow
Contract details
Releaser profile
Versioning
Functions, events, & source-code
Previously, smart contract development was fragmented and disorganized - thirdweb Release solves this and brings further engineering excellence to web3. Dive into the full announcement and our blog post.
