WEB3 INNOVATION | Powering the next generation of sports collectibles

Last week, the 6-time NBA Championship winning Chicago Bulls partnered with 23 of the most notable web3 artists to reinterpret their iconic logo, which has barely changed since the team’s founding in 1966.

For this on-chain interpretation, Chicago-based artists like Michael Salisbury and NoPattern paid homage to their team alongside world-renowned creators like Bobby Hundreds, Blake Jamieson, Gxng Yxng of Ghxsts, Maliha Abidi, Betty, and Psych from the NFT project Deadfellaz. Each piece was auctioned as a 1 of 1 NFT on Ethereum, the most popular blockchain for web3 applications, with a starting price of 0.2 ETH. Dig further into the collection and incredible art here.

At its core, the project was intended to reward the artists while also supporting After School Matters, a Chicago-based nonprofit empowering Chicago's underserved youth. Using thirdweb's Splits contract, the collection automatically transfers the proper percentage of proceeds to each party involved: the artists (40%), the Bulls (40%), After School Matters (10%), and the NBA (10%).

In our most recent guide, you'll learn how to burn an ERC1155 token to mint an ERC721 NFT, similar to Yuga Labs' Mutant Ape Yacht Club collection. Burn-to-redeem has been one of our most requested features and now you can build it yourself.
